SupaClone Referral Program: Earn Credits or Cash
Published Jul 26, 2026 · 8 min read
The SupaClone referral program gives every workspace a personal referral link: when a genuinely new user signs up through it and makes their first qualifying purchase, both sides get rewarded. You earn clone credits - or cash, if you own the Lifetime plan - and the person you referred gets bonus credits or a checkout discount. The program is live now in the SupaClone app under Referrals; this post explains exactly how attribution, rewards, and payouts work, and answers the question a lot of people arrive here with: whether Supabase itself has an affiliate program (spoiler: it doesn't).
One thing upfront, because the naming invites confusion: SupaClone is an independent tool for cloning Supabase projects. It is not affiliated with Supabase, and this referral program is SupaClone's, not Supabase's.
What is the SupaClone referral program?
It's a double-sided, one-time referral reward - not an affiliate scheme with recurring commissions. The typical use case: you set up a staging environment or cloned a project for a client, a colleague asks how you did it, and you send them your link instead of just the URL. If they later buy something, you both get more clone runs out of it.
The fact sheet:
| Program fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Reward for referrers | Clone credits by default; cash for Lifetime owners |
| Reward for referred users | Bonus clone credits, or 5% off the Lifetime plan |
| Reward trigger | The referred user's first qualifying purchase - not signup |
| Recurring commissions | No - one reward per referred customer, ever |
| Cash payout method | Stripe Connect (one-time Express onboarding) |
| Minimum cash payout | $25 referral balance |
| Attribution | New-user signup through your link; each person referable once |
| Canonical terms | Referral Program Terms |
Credits here are SupaClone clone-run credits: 1 credit = 1 successful clone run, and they never expire. Only successful runs are charged, so a failed run doesn't burn a referral reward.
Is there an official Supabase affiliate program?
No. As of July 2026, Supabase has no affiliate or referral program that pays commissions. What Supabase actually offers is:
- SupaSquad - the official advocate program. Members get badges, early access to features, and merch for contributing to the community. It pays nothing; it's an advocacy program, not an affiliate program.
- Supabase Partners - an integrations and experts marketplace for companies building on or consulting around Supabase. Also not a commission program.
If you've seen AI-generated listicles claiming Supabase pays "10-20% recurring commissions", check their source link: it points to supabase.com/partners/affiliates, which returns a 404. That page does not exist, and neither does the program.
So if you're a developer in the Supabase ecosystem looking for something to actually share and get rewarded for, tool-level programs are what exists - and SupaClone's referral program is one of them. To be precise one more time: it rewards you for referring people to SupaClone, a third-party cloning tool, not to Supabase itself.
How do SupaClone referral rewards work?
Two moments matter: attribution at signup and reward at first purchase.
Attribution. When someone opens your referral link and signs up as a genuinely new user, they're attributed to you. The rules are strict by design:
- Each real-world identity can be referred once, ever - deleting an account and re-signing through a link doesn't create a second attribution.
- Existing customers are never attributed. The program is for bringing in new users, not for tagging people already here.
- Self-referrals are excluded, and attempting one leads to reward removal.
Reward. A signup alone grants nothing. The reward is issued when the referred user makes their first qualifying purchase - one of the three plans on the pricing page. One reward per referred customer, no recurring commissions on renewals.
The current rewards, per purchase:
| Purchase | Referred user gets | Referrer gets (credits) | Referrer gets (cash, Lifetime owners) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single Run ($9.99) | 1 bonus clone credit | none | $1 |
| 5-Pack ($29.99) | 2 bonus clone credits | 1 clone credit | $3 |
| Lifetime ($79.99) | 5% off at checkout | 5 clone credits | $8 |
One honest caveat: these amounts are configuration, not constants, and the cash amounts apply to USD purchases - referrals who buy at regional prices (for example INR in India) earn a smaller cash amount. They can change over time, and the Referral Program Terms always show the current values - treat that page as canonical, not this post.
How much can I earn per referral?
As a credits earner: 1 clone credit for a 5-Pack referral, 5 for a Lifetime referral - a Single Run referral earns no credits. As a Lifetime owner: $1, $3, or $8 in cash per referred customer who buys at USD prices (regional-price purchases earn less).
Let's be direct about what that means. If you're searching for a serious affiliate income stream, programs like Railway's (15% recurring) or DigitalOcean's (10% recurring) are built for that, and SupaClone's one-time rewards don't compete with recurring commissions - we won't pretend otherwise. This program isn't positioned as passive income.
It's positioned as: you already use SupaClone, you were going to recommend it anyway, and now the recommendation isn't free labor. Realistic scenarios:
- You onboard a teammate onto your team's clone workflow and they subscribe for a side project.
- A fellow Supabase developer asks how you cloned your Supabase project without fighting
pg_dumpownership errors. - A client you set up wants to run future clones themselves.
Also worth knowing before you count your credits: rewards can be withheld or clawed back for suspicious activity, self-referrals, and purchases that are refunded or disputed. If the underlying purchase unwinds, so does the reward.
And if you share your link publicly - a blog post, a YouTube video, a comparison thread - disclose that you earn rewards from it. The FTC's Endorsement Guides require disclosing material connections, and a one-line "referral link, I get credits if you buy" costs you nothing.
How do cash payouts work?
Cash is the exception, not the default: only referrers who own the Lifetime plan earn cash instead of credits. Everyone else earns clone credits.
For Lifetime owners, the flow is:
- Cash rewards accumulate in a referral balance, visible as a ledger on the Referrals page - you can see which referral produced which amount.
- Once the balance reaches the $25 minimum, you can withdraw it.
- Withdrawal runs through Stripe Connect: a one-time Express onboarding from the Referrals page (Stripe verifies your identity and payout details), then payouts go to your bank account.
Payouts are fully live - this isn't a "coming soon" feature. Two ground rules: balances below $25 stay in the ledger until they cross the threshold, and you are responsible for any taxes on cash payouts.
At $3-$8 per USD referral (5-Pack and Lifetime), reaching $25 takes four to nine referred customers; referrals who buy at regional prices earn a smaller cash amount, so it can take more. If that math doesn't excite you, keep in mind why Lifetime owners get cash in the first place: they already have unlimited clone runs, so credits would be worthless to them.
What does the person I refer get?
The program is double-sided, so your link is a genuinely better deal for the other person than signing up cold:
- Single Run: 1 bonus clone credit on top of the run they bought.
- 5-Pack: 2 bonus clone credits on top of the 5 runs in the pack.
- Lifetime: 5% off at checkout, applied automatically in your local checkout currency.
That is what makes the link worth sending in practice: the person you refer starts with more runs than they would signing up cold, and the referral bonus only kicks in if and when they decide to buy.
How do I get my referral link?
In the app, open Referrals (the /referrals page in your SupaClone dashboard). Every workspace already has a personal link there - no application, no approval step, no minimum follower count. The same page shows your attributed signups, issued rewards, and (for Lifetime owners) the cash balance and the Stripe Connect onboarding.
Where sharing it actually makes sense:
- Team onboarding docs. If your runbook says "clone prod structure into a fresh project for staging" (the workflow from our Supabase staging environment guide), put your link where the tool is mentioned.
- Code review and incident follow-ups. "We should have tested this on a staging clone" threads are where the tool gets adopted.
- Client handoffs. When a client takes over a project you set up, they'll need their own workspace anyway.
The mechanics, edge cases, and current reward values are documented in the referral program docs, with the Referral Program Terms as the legally binding version. Rewards are subject to those terms.
FAQ
Does Supabase have an official affiliate program?
No. Supabase offers SupaSquad (a community advocate program with badges, early access, and merch - no commissions) and a Partners program (integrations marketplace). Listicles claiming "10-20% recurring commissions" link to a Supabase affiliates page that returns a 404. SupaClone's referral program is a third-party program in the Supabase ecosystem, not a Supabase program.
When do I get my referral reward?
When the person you referred makes their first qualifying purchase (Single Run, 5-Pack, or Lifetime). A signup alone grants nothing, and there's exactly one reward per referred customer - no recurring commissions on renewals. Rewards from refunded or disputed purchases are clawed back.
Can I get cash instead of clone credits?
Only if you own the Lifetime plan. Lifetime owners earn cash ($1/$3/$8 per USD referral depending on the purchase, less for regional-price purchases) into a referral balance, withdrawable via Stripe Connect once it reaches $25. All other referrers earn clone credits (1 for a 5-Pack, 5 for a Lifetime; Single Run referrals earn none), which never expire.
Does the person I refer get anything?
Yes - the program is double-sided. Through a referral link, a Single Run includes 1 bonus clone credit, the 5-Pack includes 2 bonus clone credits, and Lifetime is 5% off at checkout.
Can I refer myself or a second account?
No. Self-referrals are explicitly excluded and lead to reward removal, and each real-world identity can only be referred once, ever - including after deleting and recreating an account. Existing customers are never attributed to a referrer.
